Security Tools

About these tools

Security tools are provided free of charge to Texas State University faculty and staff. These tools help to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and resources at the university.

VPN Access

The Virtual Private Network (VPN) securely connects faculty, staff, and contract employees to the Texas State network through an encrypted connection.

Duo MFA

Duo Multi-factor Authentication (formerly NetID 2-Step) is a secure multi-factor authentication method. Two steps are required for successful access. It is a safer way to log into select Texas State online services and adds an increased level of security for your account and Texas State confidential information.

LastPass

LastPass is a cloud-based password management tool equipped with all the necessary features for managing and protecting your passwords, including website logins, addresses, and Wi-Fi passwords.

Secure File Transfer

TXST File Transfer, powered by LiquidFiles, allows you to securely send files to TXST faculty, staff, and students and to those outside of Texas State. Files are encrypted during the upload and download process.

Non-disclosure and Confidentiality Agreements

Campus administrative heads and supervisors frequently request guidance in the development of employee, consultant, and contractor confidentiality agreements. In response to these requests, the Information Security Office has developed and recommends the following templates for use as appropriate to the situation. These template agreements have been reviewed and approved by the University Attorney for general campus use. However, special circumstances may necessitate material changes to these agreements and additional review by the University Attorney may be warranted prior to use. Please contact itbusiness@txstate.edu for a current version of the Information Security Standards Exhibit for inclusion in contracts related to IT products and services.
