Enable data protection by configuring a passcode for your device:

2. Follow the prompts to create a passcode.

While on campus, make sure to connect to the TexasStateWPA network. This will minimize your exposure from malicious attackers intercepting your traffic, and encrypts all your wireless traffic while connected.

However, if you are not on campus, make sure to turn off your WiFi connection uness you trust the network is encrypted. Open wifi networks are unencrypted and send your wireless traffic in plain text, which leaves users susceptible to having their information hacked.

1. Tap Settings > Wi-Fi > On/Off
2. If on campus, Select TexasStateWPA

By default, Safari shows some of the features of the web (movies, animation, and web applications). You may wish to turn off some of these features to help protect your privacy and your device from possible security risks on the Internet.

To modify your security settings, tap Settings > Safari.

1. Turn Fraudulent Website Warning On

Phishing is a fraudulent attempt to steal your personal information, such as passwords, account information, or user names. A fraudulent website masquerades as a legitimate one, such as a bank, financial institution, or email service provider.
When turned on, the Anti-phishing feature in Safari will show an alert if the site you're visiting is a suspected phishing site

2. Turn Private On

To visit sites without making history, turn Private on or off in Safari.

To turn on private browsing, tap Safari, then tap the icon in the lower-right corner. Tap Private to turn private browsing on.
Note: If you're using an iPad, tap the pluss sign [+], then Private.
This will protect your private information and block some websites from tracking your behavior. Safari won't remember the pages you visit, your search history, or your AutoFill information.
Note: While Private is enabled, Safari appears black or dark instead of white or gray.

3. Block Cookies

To set whether Safari blocks cookies, tap Block Cookies and choose "Never," "From third parties and advertisers," or "Always." A cookie is a piece of data that a website puts on the device so the website can remember you when you visit again, and the webpage can be customized for you based on information you may have provided.

4. Clear Browsing History

Follow these steps to clear information from your device:

  • To clear your history from Safari, tap Settings > Safari > Clear History.
  • To clear all cookies from Safari, tap Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies and Data.
